Walking Is Overrated LIVE!

Red Nicholson is a 21 year old Communications student, who also works at Saatchi & Saatchi, runs a successful disability-centric website, is currently fronting a nation-wide disability awareness campaign, and is an active guest speaker at all kinds of events, ranging from media workshops to accessibility conferences.

Red’s value as a speaker crosses a far broader territory than ’someone in a wheelchair’. Red is a straight-up, enthusiastic and engaging speaker, and his presentations are far from your average click-and-drone Powerpoint. Hear Red talk about his experiences growing up with a disability, and his journey through high school, University, and the workplace. Hear his thoughts on Generation Y and why he thinks they have the potential to truly change the world, and the massive part people with impairment have to play in the bigger picture.

Past feedback on Red’s presentations have included:

  • Red was enthusiastic, friendly and humourous. He gave a down-to-earth and I think, realistic description of working in the ad world.
  • Was a really motivational talk, made me really want to participate in the programme!
  • It was great hearing about his personal experiences…. he was humorous and his style seemed to keep everyone involved. Was a good note to finish on.
  • Basically he is a good public speaker. He snuck in some good jokes but he also gave really good insight into the workplace etc. I think he should speak in front of a bigger audience because a lot of people need to hear what he has to say e.g. “A degree is not a one-way ticket”.
  • It was awesome to be told not to disregard your value when in an internship situation. That was good advice. The youtube video was really good too to get an idea of how valuable this program is for the community groups, that youthlaw lady was stoked!
  • Awesome speaker, the personal spin on what otherwise maybe obvious points really makes it superb.
