So for those of you who missed it (and shame on you ) I was featured on Attitude last Sunday morning! If you didn’t get to see this momentous occasion in NZ television history, I present it to you below in all its YouTube-ified glory. Check it out, and let

A quick update!

Red April 2nd, 2008 1 Comment

Hey everyone, Just a quick update to let you all know why I haven’t been posting as much the last few weeks – I really am still alive! I’ve started back at Uni for my 2nd year of my Communications degree, which of course brings with it such joyous obligations as essays, assignments, et al. I’ve scored a job working part-time at Saatchi & Saatchi which, while freakin cool, takes up a good half of my week! Add to that

Well gosh, try as I might to entertain you all with interesting stories, or inform you all with, well, informative ones, nothing much appears to be happening in the world of disability! So, please. Off to Splore for the weekend!

Red February 8th, 2008 No Comments

To celebrate the last weekend of my summer holidays, some friends and I are off to “New Zealand’s leading edge summer festival” – Splore! So whilst I won’t be updating the site over the weekend, I’ll be sure to take plenty of pictures and write up a comprehensive review when I get back. To be honest, I find festivals to be some of the least accessible events to disabled people, so it’ll be interesting to see how Splore stacks up!

Vote for walkingisoverrated.com in the 2008 NZ Web Awards!

Red February 7th, 2008 6 Comments

Wishful thinking, or a David vs Goliath story in the making? Any way you look at it, I’d be eternally grateful if you clicked on the image to the left and voted for walkingisoverrated.com in the blog category of this year’s Netguide Web Awards! I know this isn’t as long-established or mainstream as other blogs but I believe it has the potential to create powerful and positive social change, not something many blogs can lay claim to! So take 30

Red February 2nd, 2008 3 Comments

Okay, so this blog hasn’t been around all that long, but I’m delighted to say that January has been the most successful month for walkingisoverrated.com so far! There’s a graph on the left that you can click on to get a nice graphical representation, but lemme break it down for y’all verbally: 131,343 server requests (I’m not really sure what that means, but it sounds like a lot) 16,168 page views (that’s the number of pages that have been, well,

Back from holiday and a mobility van for sale!

Red January 17th, 2008 No Comments

Hey everyone, I’ve been on holiday in the windy city this week, down in our wonderful capital, which is the reason for the lack of updates these past few days! But while I’ve been away I’ve been keeping an eye on things around town so expect a review or two in the coming days ALSO I’ve received word that a wheelchair accessible van is for sale, for those that are in the market for one of these (please note: I
