Red May 14th, 2009 35 Comments

So I’m on my way to University in the rain this morning, and I’m thinking, “Oh great, I’ll park right outside the AUT tower so I won’t get too wet”. Well, bugger me when I see four disabled/mobility parks cordoned off, emblazoned with massive Telecom NZ logos, in preparation for their big XT brand launch this evening. That’s right – and check out the picture on the right if you don’t believe me, Telecom had effectively roped off four of

Big Day Out: Upon the platform! (+ Neil Young video)

Red January 21st, 2009 6 Comments

I’ve been to many Big Day Outs. I’ve never been able to see much, as might be obvious to many of you. I have nonetheless persisted, taking solace in the fact that I’m not only enjoying (albeit sans visuals) world-class music, but also socialising in confined, sweaty spaces with my peers – very important in youth culture, you see. Is Coldplay set to screw wheelchair users, too?

Red December 17th, 2008 3 Comments

As you may be aware, two of the last major acts to visit New Zealand, Westlife and Eric Clapton, have both set exorbitant pricing for the wheelchair section Auckland’s Vector Arena. Both times I was able to lobby Vector Arena on my readers’ behalf, who then in turn spoke to the promoters, and convinced them to lower the wheelchair pricing to a more reasonable level, in line with what other consumers pay. With international rock act Coldplay announcing a one-off

Red December 7th, 2008 No Comments

Now that the dust has settled upon the inaugural Attitude Awards, I’m stoked to announce that Kerri Bonner took out the first ever Attitude Youth Award. It was between herself, me, and an awesome dude by the name of Zachary Best, who is a deaf law student down in Wellington. And while Kerri won, it was truly an honour to simply be a finalist, and to be present at such an incredible event! You can check out a recap of
