What am I missing here? Why do they need to *park* in order to pick up/drop off? The driver should only need to leave the vehicle in order to assist the passenger in/out, and since he's there at the vehicle with the keys the whole time he surely isn't parked? Now, if the driver needs to leave the vehicle parked, motor off, no one home, and go inside to find the person being picked up, that's another matter, but poor use of communications (ie the technologies that allow you to notify a person waiting for a taxi that it's time for him/her to come out of the building to the carpark) doesn't justify misuse of parking spots, does it? If these drivers are going inside to help a person get out of the building to the carpark, or from the carpark into the building, those are surely things that taxi drivers shouldn't be doing anyway, functions for support services of some kind. The driver is there to help load you and your baggage into the vehicle, drive you where you need to go, then help you safely out again with your stuff. I'm a regular user of taxis, admittedly not wheelchair taxis, but I've never struck this problem; drivers are always willing to stop in the disabled spot to let me climb in--and if it was a problem, I could bring my Mobility Card with me so once again there's no problem. What precisely are these guys doing that they feel they absolutely can't provide a proper service without permission to use mobility spots without cards?

This is bad, Re-Li-On-Us is the only specialised taxi company I know, Hospitals should use them and as for CCS give them a card or put parks in place only for mobility vans.
