Rachel is right! I would love to know the logic of the local Regional Council down here to design accessible buses (on purpose) to exclude power chairs and most adult wheelchairs (apart from sport chairs) and then they suck up to Ruth Dyson to pretend to believe in inclusion for everyone!! Why did I travelled all over the States on the public transport system, two years ago and when I'm in own city (Christchurch) I don't use the public transport system (that is suppose to be so accessible for me) because it is inaccessible, WHY??

I wish Chch buses were as good as Ruth makes them sound. They were a good starting point 10+ years ago, for the 21st century though I question how accessible qualifies as accessible?

I enjoyed your interview with Ruth Dyson. As an MOH client I talk with and see how better off ACC clients have it, I have six weekly reviews, six monthly reviews they don't. Applications for everything in triplicate!!!
But what I would like see is a disabled persons political type organisation, we as a group we can put pressure on the policies of parties. Just a thought?

It is a surprise to see my name and email address and then nothing! I had best say something otherwise the gremlin who put my name and address for a comment might get nasty and haunt my 'puter - what a thought! I used to teach at Massey (PN) campus - that's way back when there was little accessibility for disability. I note on return visits things are much improved. My old friend, Stewart Ransom, now deceased, fought hard to get Massey to make the place easy for him to get around in the 70s and 80s. He told me it was a two-fold difficult exercise. I'm sure he would be pleased to see the improvements. Some readers will know the name as Stewart was involved with DPA and Workbridge for many years. Good luck Red with your efforts.
