Please excuse my glib title, but it’s late on a Thursday night and writing things like that cheer me up a little bit! Anyway, if you’re wondering what induced me to profess such a thing, allow me to explain. Currently, the Newmarket train station is undergoing a major redevelopment (not before time, too), and is completely out of action. In its place are two temporary stations, one for the west route via Newmarket, and one for the South route. But what if you need to transfer between the two routes, when previously you’d get off one train, and hop on another? What do you mean, a 15-minute trek into the unknown in your wheelchair or walking frame doesn’t sound like fun?!
Well fear not, dearest train patron, as Maxx has kindly provided a Re-Li-On-Us mobility taxi van for the express purpose of transporting you from one station to another! It is parked across the road from the original Newmarket train station, although I’m sure if you dial their 0800 number (0800 025 999) it’ll come and pick you up from wherever you are in Newmarket. And hell, even if you’re not likely to be in a position where you’ll need its services, I hope, like me, you can appreciate how fantastic it is of Maxx to provide such an alternative for disabled travellers!
