Winner of my Dipshit of the Week award goes to John Peters of Christchurch, who is selling “Wheelchair Tennis NZ”-branded pens at $20 apiece whilst pretending to be paralysed. He is purporting to be selling the absurdly overpriced pens to raise funds for his ‘Disabled Children’s Trust’, of which there appears to be no record of it ever existing.
In July last year Mr Peters was criticised in Parliament for his fundraising methods - including passing on only $5 out of $20 to charity.
Disability Issues Minister Ruth Dyson told the House that Mr Peters was a millionaire property developer and by his own admission “he scams money off unsuspecting public by sitting in a way designed to make people believe he’s paraplegic”.
You can read more on the story here.

Dear W.I.O.,
This just leaves me speechless. I wonder if some time in this idiot’s lifetime he will have an awkward fall, get hit by a drunk driver or meet with some other such misfortune, and thereby become REALLY disabled. Of course, I don’t wish it on him, but you have to admit, it would be an ‘interesting’ way for him to meet his come-uppance (which I believe he will eventually anyway). Yours truly, Honor Kavanagh.

That’s horrid, there are people out there that really are paraplegic and really would be doing fundraising, this idiot will kill any of that, the public will be suspicious and not want to help us at all.
