The Halberg Trust Activity Fund

Had a read about this today and sounded quite interesting, so I thought I’d share it with y’all. The following is taken from the North Shore LIFE Centre‘s newsletter, just thought I’d give credit where it’s due ;)

Halberg Trust NZ logoThe Halberg Trust Activity Fund provides grants to enable young disabled people to participate in sport and active leisure within their community. The Activity Fund is available to support young people with a disability between the ages of 8 and 18, including those with physical, intellectual, sensory and neurological impairments.

Applications an be made for equipment, such as bikes or boccia balls, or an activity, such as a set of swimming lessons or to cover the cost of a support person in a physical activity environment. The Halberg Trust will fund those costs over and above what it would a non-disabled child to participate in such an activity. The committee meets monthly, and will pay the costs directly to the provider.

How do I apply? Contact your nearest Regional Sports Trust which will provide you with an application form and talk about any applicable criteria. You can also check out the Halberg Trust’s website for more information.

As they say, Push Play! :D
