Dob in disabled parking cheats!

Mobility Parking Sign…If you live in Australia!

In yet another chapter of the Look-How-Far-Behind-NZ-Is book, the NSW Govt has set up a hotline for members of the public to dob in those who are abusing or misusing the mobility parking scheme.

If someone has cause to believe an individual has stolen or borrowed illegitimately a disability parking permit, or obtained one by fraudulent means, they can call this phone line. Additionally, if you see a car parked in a mobility parking space that isn’t showing a mobility card, you can ring the toll-free number and get it towed away!

A fantastic idea and one which is well overdue, it’s just a pity it’s all going on across the ditch.

Read more on the story here, and wake up, local councils!

Invercargill City Council has a dob in line operating within the CBD resulting in the offender recieving a fine

I had the experience of parking next to a vehicle in the viaduct, parked on one of two disabled parks. The owner [a young middle eastern] sprinted across the road and drove the vehicle around the block and back into the same park. When approached about his elegibility I was told to …. off. A passing traffic warden was unable to help as the vehicle had a disability card and was not overparked.

However on ringing CCS. I was told that if I had the disability card no. car registration and description of the driver they would investigate. ???

As a disabled person I agree but would like to add that all public parking close to any entertainment venue city wide in auckland is hogged by Taxis after dark.

This means even through I am 90% disabled I am forced to park down side streets which puts me in great danger.

I have complained to Auckland city council, but to no avail, if I show my mobility car and ask to use public parking some taxi drivers will move others will not
